Bullying prevention can start in the early childhood years through the helpful guidance of parents and educators.

You don’t need to use the word ‘bullying’ to begin to teach young children a wide range of skills that will prevent bullying.

Emotional literacy is the ability to understand, express and manage individual emotions as well as the ability to understand and respond to the emotions of others. These skills are a central part of a child’s social development and provide a foundation for positive personal friendships.

Learn with Allen – The Allen Adventure

The Allen Adventure is a comprehensive suite of resources designed to foster emotional literacy, prosocial behaviours and respectful relationships between children.

The Allen Adventure app tells the story of Allen, a young alien visiting Earth, where he learns that getting along with others isn't always easy.

Through the interactive and engaging app, young children learn social and emotional skills, how to make friends and get along with others. The free app is available for download on all Apple and Android devices including mobile phones.

The supporting early childhood to Year 2 resources available below also offer extension activities for The Allen Adventure.

To help young children start their safe online journey, the Allen learns about technology poster introduces 5 rules about sharing devices (transcript), appropriate device usage and safe online behaviour. Print and display the poster in your classroom or home.
