We all want Australian schools to be safe, inclusive and respectful communities that promote student engagement and wellbeing.

Schools can adopt a number of positive and proactive strategies to create inclusive learning environments where everyone feels safe, supported and respected.

The Australian Student Wellbeing Framework recommends 5 key principles as the basis for establishing safe and supportive school communities: leadership, inclusion, student voice, partnerships and support.

In addition to whole school approaches to prevent bullying, schools may want to adopt specific approaches or programs tailored to the needs of their local community. The STEPS decision-making tool is designed to assist schools to select the most appropriate, evidence-based resources to meet their needs.
