What is bullying? is a series of four short animated videos for teachers to explore the national definition of bullying for Australian schools.
Identifying whether a situation is bullying or something else helps schools to work out the best response. To do this, schools and families need to look beyond what they can see in a student's behaviour to what might be really going on behind the scenes.
What is bullying? helps schools develop a shared understanding of bullying within their school community. The first video introduces the national definition, and the following videos each explore one of the three main features of bullying: it is a misuse of power in relationships, it is ongoing and repeated, and involves behaviours that can cause harm.
A set of discussion questions for staff development is also available.
